"Como en Vida, Como en Muerte" - Margarita "Mita" Cuaron

About the Artist

"Como en Vida, Como en Muerte" was chosen for the Virgin Gallery simply because of the inspiring image. There is a

combination of two of the most important elements to Chicanos, La Virgen de Guadalupe and death. There is sense of duality and a

give and take relationship in this picture. One feels comfort and love when viewing "Como en Vida, Como en Muerte". Although there

are things to be feared, which is represented by the calavera, there seems to be a guiding force that will make sure everything turns out

as it should. That guiding force is La Virgen de Guadalupe. She represents the nurturing only a mother can give that lasts a lifetime.
